Bioshock 4 might not arrive until the PlayStation 6

What's transpired? Cloud Chamber, the developer of Bioshock 4, just like numerous other industry entities, endured a string of layoffs. As a consequence, according to PlayStation Lifestyle, Bioshock 4 is no longer anticipated to be released in late 2026 or early 2027.

The website speculates that, due to the extended lifespan of console generations, Bioshock 4 might not be ready until after the PlayStation 6 launches.

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Cloud Chamber, let go of around one-third of its workforce - approximately 80 jobs.

Internal sources indicated that the game was "decent," but not outstanding.

Why does this matter? The PlayStation 6 could reasonably be expected around 2028, though it must be noted that this is purely speculative based on what we currently know. Sony has yet to make an official statement on this.

The last game in the Bioshock franchise, Bioshock Infinite, was launched in March 2013. With already nine years passing between games, this delay implies that fans will have to wait even longer.

So far, almost nothing is known about Bioshock 4, although we surmise that its core gameplay will remain similar to previous installments.

Until last year, Bioshock 4 had been in the pre-production stage. This means it is at least two to three years away from completion.

Why should you care? Whether you're a Bioshock enthusiast or a die-hard PlayStation gamer, this news has implications. If the timeline is accurate, Bioshock 4 could, in theory, be one of the first titles to debut on the PlayStation 6.

Cloud Chamber is replacing its studio head and bringing in Rod Fergusson, known for games such as Diablo 4, Gears of War 2, and Gears 5.

Bioshock 4 is set to be the final title in the franchise, so the pressure to "get it right" is considerably higher.
